Welcome. You are here because you want to be a better leader. The path you are on is a rich and transformative one - and one which can also be lonely and difficult, not least because we often find ourselves in positions requiring leadership, but with few tangible leadership tools to help us, and without a community of fellow leaders with whom we can share and reflect.
The Leader in the World course offers you the support, insight, inspiration and experience to enable you to feel more confident leading others, whether in business, community, or another organizational context. You will explore how to co-create organizations, relationships and teams that thrive, even under stress. You’ll dive into your power and influence, and how you can inhabit this with conscious choice rather than reactivity or automatic habits, so you can meet the range of situations and needs you face. Then you’ll discover how to use coaching skills, approach difficult conversations, and lead diversity, before taking a perspective on the bigger picture of your leadership, and how you can align it with purpose for even bigger impact.
The course is twelve weeks, with a workshop every two weeks offering tools and insights you will put into practice between sessions. You will also be placed into a small pod of fellow leaders on the course, to form an invaluable supportive community, sharing what you are trying, learning and applying, and what outcomes you are noticing. You will need to be ready to put what you are learning into practice, and so this is a course for people who are currently leading and managing others, which can include not only reports, but also colleagues, clients, customers, suppliers or others with whom you have a relationship upon which you want to make an effective impact. All elements will be integrated and holistic, with the aim to develop three essential leadership stances: Curiosity (thinking), Compassion (feeling), and Courage (action).
You will be guided by an experienced coach, learning together with a small group of fellow travellers and receiving the support of all. The experience is rich, fun and insightful, and - with commitment and accountability - you will go deeper, further and faster.

Leadership moves us from "I" to "We". In this first module, we start to build from personal reflection (Who am I? What is my leadership work?), to the relational (How to do I want to lead others?), and immediately put these reflections and tools into practice. We shift from individual thinking to thinking in systems, and practice how to co-create a foundation of trust by consciously designing alliances. We will also consciously commit to self-care practices that resource us for leadership.
How do you feel about your power? By owning it, we give ourselves authority and acceptance to influence others. In this module we'll explore the multi-faceted places from which we can be in leadership with others, responding to the situations and needs in front of us, and being able to switch skillfully and consciously between them.
What is the stance we choose to support, motivate and develop people around us? How can we listen better and ask powerful questions that help others to be at their best - empowered, creative and solutions-focused? How can we be both compassionate and boundaried in service of others and our projects and lives?
How can we approach conflict and difficult conversations in ways that build trust and allow co-creation of a better future to emerge? In this module, we'll explore the power of emotional needs, projection and transference, and our own unconscious tendencies to play roles that disempower ourselves and others. We also continue to develop the self-leadership to manage our own emotions to co-create relationships that thrive.
We all arrive with our assumptions and stories, and can unconsciously act in ways that exclude others and their input. With courage and humility, we'll explore practices of deep empathy and awareness of how our usual way of holding meetings, for instance, can restrict the diversity of thought we need to bring to our projects and organizations, as well as some tools to help.
The aim of thoughtful leadership is to create more leaders, rather than followers. Our greatest contribution as leaders lies not only in what we materially achieve, but also in the culture we help create. In this final module, we will understand how to think long-term to consider what we want the impact of our leadership to be on future generations. How do we want to model and develop future leaders? You'll create a high dream for your leadership with commitments and accountability.
